Training like astronauts
Now that we have worked on our agility we are building up core strength. Astronauts need to look after their backs so need good core strength.

Dilution
Everyday we test the water in the salmon tank to see how much ammonia is in there. When there is too much we replace half the water to dilute and amount of ammonia.
Today we used green food colouring, water and pipettes to help us understand what diluting a solution means.
Astronaut agility
Astronauts spend a lot of time in the gym as they can't use their muscles in the same way while they are in space. We are using an agility course NASA use to improve the agility of their astronauts.
Long shadows
To begin our learning on space we went outside to measure our shadows at different times of the day. The first ones on the right were traced around 9:30 and the second ones on the left at 11:45. The shadows are long because it is winter and the sun is low in the sky.
My bed room
My bed room is a quiet place.
You can play with my toys and games but the things you can not do is fight or be mean. The things you can do are be funny and nice.
The toys that I like the most is my magic skylanders. My 2 favourite toys are my awesome Games. My sheets have Olaf and Sven. The wallpaper is blank with posters. On my shelves are toys. I can see my huge paddock from my window. I might find my missing toys.
One day I might find puffles my favourite stuffed toy. My room is full of surprises

The Remarkables
The Remarkables is my special place.
The road to the Remarkables is smooth and bumpy. There is a magic carpet and four chair lifts. Lots of people ski down the runs. It is very snowy. The magic carpet moves and the chair lifts go to the top of the mountain.
I can see lots of people. Sometimes I find ski poles and one day might find a bad run.

Twizel
Twizel is my special place.
There is a swimming pool, it's got a learners and a bigger pool the bigger one is designed for kids over 4 years. You can make a splash with the hydro slide. Along the swimming pool there is fake grass and a big lock up the life guards made to keep all the stuff in, it looks like an octagon.
My favourite bit is the hydro slide because you can reach the bottom. I can see kids running across the pool full of water sometimes I find one of my cousins friends there. One day I might drive up there myself.

Five little dragons
Five little dragons trying to breathe fire,
Five little dragons trying to breathe fire,
And if one little dragon burns their bum there'll be four little dragons trying to breathe fire.
Four little dragons trying to fly,
Four little dragons trying to fly,
And if one little dragon forgets to flap there will be three little dragons trying to fly.
Three little dragons ice-skating,
Three little dragons ice-skating,
And if one little dragon falls through there will two little dragons ice-skating.
Two little dragons growing bigger and bigger,
Two little dragons growing bigger and bigger,
And if one little dragon pops into thin air there will be one little dragon growing bigger and bigger.
One big dragon sitting by the fire,
One big dragon sitting by the fire,
And if that big dragon goes to bed there will be no big dragons sitting by the fire.

Pride Homework Term 3 Week 1
Isabella developed a plan to take orders for banana chocolate chip muffins and sell them to raise money for Tear Fund. A great way to give to others.
Samuel planned a system for recycling at his house. We liked how his plan was detailed. Way to recycle Sam.
James has completed double the amount of Pride Challenges he needs to already! Today he shared about his recycling plan and going to Walmsley House to play ukulele and clarinet for the folks living there. I bet they appreciated your visit James.

Salmon in action
Here is some video footage of our alevin today and some images of them enjoying a corner. They just love corners! I wonder why? You can see they are looking more and more silver everyday and their egg sacs are getting smaller.
Joseph tests the water
Crayon
Crayon is Room 6's pet fish. He is orange and white. Crayon is fun he likes swimming up to the bubbler when, he gets there he goes up. Crayon likes to nibble on the fake oxygen plants. Crayon has blue pebbles on the bottom of his tank. Crayon got some friends in the holidays a black fish named Vivid and a grey fish named Pencil and a white and orange fish named Jovi. Crayon is much happier.
Mt Hobson
My special place is Mt Hobson it's a great place to walk up and see cows.
It is very open with not many trees, the mountain is in Auckland. It's a very cool view from the top. I can see the trees that have been blown over by the wind. Sometimes I find big sun flowers on the ground, one day I want to go there again.

James: Salmon Inspector
James was the first student in Room 6 to test the water in the tank.
First he washed his hands with tap water only and measured exactly 5ml of tank water.
Next he carefully added 7 drops of each reagent, put the lid on the tube and mixed it. After 5 minutes James read the test and the amount of ammonia was too high.
So we changed half of the water.
